Margins
(2025 – 40x50 cm each)
These paintings, made with egg tempera, are inspired by an old sticker sheet for a Star Wars Tie Fighter toy. To save as much money as possible, the company designed the sheet with minimal empty space between the stickers. This resulted in an unusual composition compared to other designs. Here, the design is scaled up and presented as a Frank Stella-like painting. It was economic pressure/margins that shaped this form, which is also a cornerstone of modernist thinking—nothing unnecessary should be present in a design. The toy, the Tie Fighter itself, is one of the Empire’s deadliest weapons..
