Ex Nihilo
(2024–2025 – 12,5x8,8 cm per item)
The project consists of replicas of Norwegian passports, created using the same technique as ancient icon paintings: egg tempera and gold leaf on wooden panels. Each painting has the same format and design as a real passport, but here, the gold leaf is disrupted, forming unique covers through chance. The project contrasts religious mysticism with citizenship, a right often granted through the mysterious randomness of birthplace. The title Ex Nihilo—meaning "from nothing"—is taken from the creation narrative in the Book of Genesis.
