Dystopia

Before the 1990s, miners all over the world used domestic canary birds as a primitive, but effective technology for indication of toxic air.

Today the canary has become a symbol, used by environmentalist as a sign of a coming dystopia.

In this work I have reproduced an old birdcage and specifically used the medium of paint to depict the canary.
